Our partnership plays a vital role in delivering the vision of a “Connected Southampton” and a greener City.

Together, our works have included significant steps in constructing the Southampton Cycle Network, investing in innovative green infrastructure and securing government funding to help make the City a cleaner, greener, healthier, more sustainable and attractive place to live, work and visit.

Our partnership has delivered sustainable and safety focused solutions that will benefit the local community, such as the UK’s first hydroponic living wall on Millbrook Roundabout.

CCTV Systems

Balfour Beatty Living Places has increased the scope of its service delivery for Southampton City Council with additional responsibility for the city’s CCTV systems.

Acting as an essential point of contact for the Police and supporting the emergency services in keeping the city safe through real time alerts and liaison, we have done this by:

  • Increasing service delivery built on a strong relationship with the Council following four years of successful CCTV provision
  • Integration of additional services into Balfour Beatty Living Places’ contract such as management of ‘Citywatch’, the city-wide 24/7 CCTV public safety and traffic monitoring control hub
  • Concierge service for housing blocks, which was previously operated by the Council, is now overseen by our management team located within the Citywatch office
  • Point management of the toll booths on the Itchen Bridge, which are managed remotely from the Citywatch offices overnight, as well as CCTV management of the Council’s bus lane enforcement scheme.
