Since 2006, we have worked in partnership with South Tyneside Council to deliver the County’s street lighting contract.
As part of the 25 year PFI contract, we have been responsible for the installation of new LED lighting, festive lighting and the onward management of electrical infrastructure supporting the Great North run.
During the Core Investment Programme (CIP), 20,600 lighting columns were replaced together with 8,000 highways signs, bollards and subway lights.
To reduce the carbon footprint of the County, lighting designs used energy efficient Cosmos Polis white lamps for residential areas, South Tyneside’s first PFI project to adopt this technology.
